Many laptops and graphics cards output DisplayPort rather than HDMI, while most TVs, projectors and budget monitors only accept HDMI. This adapter bridges that gap, so you can plug your HDMI cable into the adapter and connect straight into your DisplayPort source.

Good to know
This adapter converts DisplayPort output to HDMI input only — it is not bidirectional, so it will not work the other way round (HDMI source to DisplayPort display). Confirm your computer's DisplayPort output actually supports video pass-through to HDMI, as very old graphics hardware occasionally has limited adapter compatibility, and you will still need your own separate HDMI cable to plug into the adapter's female port.

The adapter works very well with the only downside being that it doesn't provide any audio if you are using an hdmi cord that already had inbuilt audio. It's good For someone who isn't running two input devices on their monitor because you only have to worry about one audio input, but for someone who wants two input devices to have audio you would have to get an adapter that supports audio.
