How the OTDR Launch Cable Works
The launch cable is connected between the OTDR and the fiber link under test. The additional fiber length helps move the OTDR`s initial dead zone away from the testing equipment, allowing technicians to obtain a clearer measurement of the near-end connector.
When used as a receive cable at the far end, it can also assist with evaluating the far-end connector, providing a more complete assessment of the fiber link.
