How the OTDR Launch Cable Works

The launch cable is connected between the OTDR and the fiber link under test. Its additional fiber length helps move the OTDR`s initial dead zone away from the equipment, allowing technicians to obtain a clearer measurement of the near-end connector.

When used as a receive cable, it can also help evaluate the far-end connector and provide a more complete measurement of the fiber link.
