How the OTDR Launch Cable Works
An OTDR launch cable is connected between the OTDR and the fiber link under test. The additional fiber length allows the OTDR to properly measure the first connector and helps move the initial OTDR blind zone away from the device, providing a more accurate assessment of the near-end connector.
It can also be used as a receive cable at the far end of the fiber link to help evaluate the final connector and overall link performance.
