The COMPTYCO AUA-180A OTDR Fiber Optic Tester is a compact, multifunctional fibre network analyser designed for FTTH installation, fibre optic network maintenance, commissioning and troubleshooting. Combining OTDR, optical power measurement, visual fault locating, optical light source and additional field-testing functions into one portable unit, it provides technicians with a convenient solution for everyday fibre network diagnostics.

The AUA-180A operates at 1310nm and 1550nm dual wavelengths and supports G.652D and G.657A1 single-mode fibre. With a dynamic range of 22/20dB and selectable measurement distances extending up to 80km, the tester can be used for locating fibre breaks, measuring link distance and analysing attenuation across a wide range of fibre installations.

Its one-key automatic measurement function simplifies OTDR testing by automatically analysing the fibre trace and identifying important events. The integrated EventMap presents fibre events in a graphical format, helping technicians identify reflection points, attenuation events, splitters and the end of the fibre without requiring extensive OTDR trace-analysis experience.

Integrated Test Modules

1. Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) & EventMap

The OTDR module provides dual-wavelength testing at 1310nm and 1550nm, with a dynamic range of 22/20dB. It supports measurement ranges from 100m to 80km, making it suitable for short FTTH links as well as longer fibre network sections.

The 2m event dead zone and 8m attenuation dead zone allow the tester to identify fibre events and faults with useful precision. Multiple pulse-width options provide flexibility for different fibre lengths and testing conditions.

2. Optical Power Meter (OPM)

The integrated Optical Power Meter supports 10 calibrated wavelengths:

Two measurement ranges are available: -70 to +10dBm and -50 to +26dBm. The standard 2.5mm universal optical interface supports FC, SC and ST connections, while an optional adapter can be used for LC connections.

3. Stabilized Optical Light Source (OLS)

The built-in optical light source provides 1310nm and 1550nm output wavelengths matching the OTDR wavelengths. With an output level of -5dBm ±3dB, it can be used with an optical power meter to measure fibre link loss and verify optical components.

4. Visual Fault Locator (VFL)

The integrated 650nm red laser VFL provides a visible optical signal with a stated range of ≥10km. It helps technicians locate fibre breaks, severe bends, damaged sections, poor splices and faulty connectors by visually identifying where the red light escapes from the fibre.

5. Optical Loss Testing

By combining the integrated optical light source and optical power meter, the AUA-180A can be used to assess optical link loss and verify fibre connections during installation and maintenance.

6. LED Flashlight

A built-in LED lamp provides additional illumination when working inside network cabinets, equipment rooms, telecommunications installations or other areas with limited lighting.

7. File Management & Storage

The tester provides internal storage for ≥400 OTDR traces and supports external SD card expansion. This allows technicians to save test results for future reference, documentation and network maintenance records.

8. Portable Field Operation

The AUA-180A features a built-in 2000mAh / 3.7V lithium battery and Type-C USB charging. Its compact design and supplied anti-fall carrying bag make it suitable for technicians who need to perform fibre testing at multiple locations.
