The COMPTYCO AUA-180U OTDR Fiber Optic Tester is an ultra-portable, multifunctional fibre network testing instrument designed for FTTH installation, fibre optic maintenance, network commissioning and troubleshooting. Combining OTDR analysis, optical power measurement, visual fault locating, optical light source and other essential field-testing functions into a single handheld unit, it provides technicians with a practical solution for everyday fibre diagnostics.

Operating at 1310nm and 1550nm dual wavelengths, the AUA-180U supports G.652D and G.657A1 single-mode fibre and provides a dynamic range of 22/20dB. With selectable measurement ranges from 100m to 80km, it can be used for both short-distance fibre installations and longer network links.

The built-in high-definition touchscreen provides intuitive access to the tester`s functions and measurement results. Its one-key automated OTDR analysis simplifies testing by automatically evaluating the fibre trace and generating an EventMap showing important events along the fibre link.

Integrated Test Modules

1. Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) & EventMap

The OTDR module provides dual-wavelength testing at 1310nm and 1550nm, allowing technicians to measure fibre distance, attenuation and identify faults along the optical link.

With a 2m event dead zone and 8m attenuation dead zone, the tester is designed to identify fibre events with high positional accuracy. Measurement ranges can be selected from 100m, 500m, 1km, 2km, 5km, 10km, 20km, 40km, 60km and 80km.

The EventMap function presents test results graphically, helping technicians identify reflection events, attenuation events, splitters and the end of the fibre.

2. Optical Power Meter (OPM)

The integrated Optical Power Meter supports 10 calibrated wavelengths:

It provides two selectable measurement ranges: -70 to +10dBm and -50 to +26dBm. The universal 2.5mm interface supports FC, SC and ST optical connectors, while an optional adapter can be used for LC connections.

3. Visual Fault Locator (VFL)

The integrated 650nm red laser VFL provides a stated range of ≥10km, allowing technicians to visually trace fibre faults. It can assist in locating fibre breaks, macro-bends, damaged sections, poor splices and problematic connectors.

4. Stabilized Optical Light Source (OLS)

The built-in optical light source uses 1310nm and 1550nm FP/DFB laser technology and provides an output level of -5dBm ±3dB. It can be used with the OPM function to perform optical link loss testing and verify fibre components.

The OPM also supports 270Hz, 330Hz, 1kHz and 2kHz frequency detection for compatible optical test signals.

5. Trace Storage & Data Management

The AUA-180U can store ≥400 OTDR traces internally and provides an SD card slot for external storage expansion. This allows technicians to retain measurement results for documentation, comparison and future maintenance.

6. Integrated LED Work Light

A built-in LED flashlight provides additional illumination when working in dark telecommunications cabinets, equipment rooms, outdoor installations or other low-light environments.

7. Portable Power System

The tester incorporates a 2000mAh / 3.7V rechargeable lithium battery and Type-C USB charging interface. Its lightweight 220g construction makes it particularly suitable for technicians who need to carry their testing equipment throughout the working day.
