The COMPTYCO KP800 OTDR Fiber Optic Tester is a professional multi-functional fiber optic and network testing instrument designed for telecom engineers, FTTH technicians, fiber installers, network maintenance teams, and field service professionals. By combining multiple optical and copper cable testing functions into a single handheld device, the KP800 provides a convenient solution for fiber fault diagnosis, optical power measurement, loss testing, cable tracking, and network installation.

At the centre of the KP800 is a 1310/1550nm dual-wavelength OTDR designed for testing G.652D single-mode fiber. With a dynamic range of 24/22 dB and selectable measurement ranges from 100 m to 100 km, the tester can be used for both short-distance access networks and longer fiber links.

The OTDR provides an event blind zone of approximately 1.5 m and an attenuation blind zone of approximately 7 m, allowing technicians to identify and analyze fiber events such as connectors, splices, bends, breaks, and other points of signal loss. The device also supports up to 20,000 sampling points, while the automatic measurement and analysis function simplifies testing for users who do not require complex manual configuration.

The KP800 is more than an OTDR. Its integrated Optical Power Meter (OPM) supports nine calibration wavelengths: 850, 1270, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550, 1577, 1625, and 1650 nm, with an optical power measurement range of -50 to +26 dBm. This makes it suitable for checking optical signal levels across a variety of fiber network applications.

For visual fault identification, the built-in Visual Fault Locator (VFL) provides an output of ≥10 mW, helping technicians identify breaks, bends, poor connections, and other visible faults in suitable fiber links. The integrated Optical Light Source (OLS) uses an FP-LD laser and supports multiple modulation modes, including CW, 270 Hz, 330 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz, for optical loss testing when used with an appropriate power meter.

For copper network infrastructure, the KP800 also supports RJ45 cable sequence testing, cable length testing, and wire tracking. The included wire tracker receiver and RJ45 remote module allow technicians to trace and identify network cables during installation and maintenance.

A 4.3-inch HD colour touchscreen provides an intuitive interface for viewing fiber traces, measurement results, event maps, and testing information. The one-click automatic testing function helps streamline field measurements and makes the tester easier to operate.
